TriStem Corporation Limited's process creates stem cells through a process of conversion of white blood cells taken from peripheral blood or buffy coat. This process has a 97%+ conversion efficiency and provides a total volume of between 7 Billion and 11.5 Billion stem cells (depending on a patient’s white blood cell count). This volume of cells divided by the patient's weight yields upto 450 million stem cells per kilogram patient's weight.

These stem cells are by definition HLA and DNA matched thereby precluding the need for any HLA matching donor. No expensive immuno-suppression/conditioning regimen are required either. As the source of stem cells is the patient’s own White Blood Cells, there is no moral, ethical or religious controversy associated with TriStem Corporation’s technology or process of obtaining stem cells.
